It’s going to be a lot of work, but I can do a lot of it in the summer holidays and I should be freer by the autumn. We’re employing an auctioneer, I don’t have Russell’s expertise and skill for that.

I know I am late with this but I want to pass on my sympathies for your loss of Sage. I have only just found your site again after you made a comment on my page, (it’s a bit different from the Helen’s world I used to do) .

Now I have found you again I shall pop by.

Helen, thank you very much. It was sudden, although we had been told a month previously that he was terminally ill, we thought he had several months left and it was a shock.

I hadn’t realised you had started blogging again for a while, I think I read your comment on Sandy’s blog. Lovely to hear from you.

Just nipped upstairs to tell Ann your news. We both think you’re doing right. You know that business inside out, and, I think, did the vast majority of the paperwork yourself. It’s nice to think of a professional, highly specialized auction room continuing. We send you our very best wishes for its successful continuance.
    Warm Regards, Mike and Ann.

P.s. And anyway, you are far too young to think about retirement yet. I think more retired people die of sheer boredom than anything else. At least you’ll have avoided that dire fate.

Thank you so much, Mike and Ann. I always tended to downplay my own contribution because of Russell’s considerable expertise, yet he left me to write the catalogue and relied on (and trusted) me to know what to do. The sales were always such fun, with a lovely atmosphere and our clients became friends. And yes, I’m not ready to retire, especially once I step down as a governor. I’d be bored stiff with an ‘idyllic’ life!

I am so pleased that you are finally doing something for yourself, that is totally under your control, and for your benefit rather than everyone else’s (although I’m sure that the collectors will be pleased to continue to have a one-stop shop for their LP needs)!

I’m sure you will be very successful.
