Signed out

Blogger is playing up again. I read a post from Pixie Mum and wanted to comment on it. But it seemed that I wasn’t signed in to my google account. So I sighed, went to my old Blogger blog, found I was signed in there, went back – and no. So I left a comment with my name Z and this website and nothing happened, so I don’t know if it was accepted or not.

I checked various Blogger blogs and I was signed in as Z on some of them and others I wasn’t, including Tim’s, where I couldn’t leave a comment until he opened them up to the hoi polloi. This made no sense at all. I couldn’t do a thing about it. There’s a sign-in link and when I clicked on it, I was signed in and when I went back, I wasn’t. I’ve written to tell them but it’s quite possible it’s just a blip and it’ll be put right.

Anyway, darlings. It’s the sort of wasted half hour or more that makes you feel you’ve achieved nothing all day. But here’s a blog post of sorts.

Tim and I were talking about alcohol, which makes a change from drinking it. My family always had wine on the table at every meal (except breakfast, obvs. That was my grandmother and she came to a sticky end) and I was welcome to a glass from my early teens. That wasn’t Tim’s family experience and I suppose my family took the Continental model.

It was always dry wine and quite uncompromising and I didn’t like it much in those days. No danger of me having more than the occasional glass when i wanted to feel sophisticated/ But I’ll tell you all about my drinking experiences tomorrow, because I’ve realised it may take some time and this post is quite long enough already.

After the last Apple update none of my work-arounds have worked regarding signing into blogger via Safari. I realised my options were to download Firefox or Google Chrome OR use a non-Apple laptop for Blogger that I have access to. It is a real pain and I’m very cross about it.
Drinking, eh? I have to hold my hand up to not liking wine! Unless it’s the fizzy stuff.

That makes sense, thank you Scarlet. What a nuisance. Apple’s fault then. The odd thing is that some blogs are okay. The inconvenience is that I use a feed reader so I’d have to sign into it on another browser and, presumably, also sign into Google in the same browser. No idea of my feed reader password, of course.

Yes, I can sign into some blogspots, and then others will sign me out. My hunch is that it’s to do with how the comment box is formatted – some have a pop-up box, some have it embedded, etc. But I give up trying to suss out what’s going on with it now – it takes so long, it’s easier for me to just use a different laptop.
Is your password saved on your Apple keychain?

Hello Neena, to stop spammers, I have it set up that I approve the comment first time someone leaves one. After that, it’ll appear straight away. Welcome!

Just looked back at my blog, regrettably your comments haven’t appeared, if it is any comfort I have had a problem with commenting for ages. Just cannot work out how to log into Blogger to comment, even when logged in when writing a blog. I do seem to be a bit more successful in formatting this now, the photographs and text seem to be behaving.

Saw marmalade oranges in Waitrose last Friday, we purchase ours from an independent greengrocer so last night sliced the oranges and lemons, made the first batch of 14 1/2 jars today with about 3 lbs of fruit, will need to make much more as we ran out in November, somehow Damson jam didn’t hack it for breakfast.

I will try again using Chrome. It does seem to be using Safari that’s the problem. I’d probably be okay with my iPad because it’s so old that it won’t update any more.

Planning to buy Seville oranges tomorrow. Tim bought sugar today. I think I made four batches last year and they were just about right, we still have a couple of jars. However, I did buy a few extra oranges and froze them. I’ve used them in cooking over the year, but i could have made a final batch of marmalade if need be.
