Show, shower … what’s the superlative?

We’ve caught up with all the work and we’re feeling pretty good about it.  LT bought a new light box and it’s made things a lot quicker and easier.  So encouraged was I that I’ve cropped all the photos, so that’s a job done, and we’re ready to start on the catalogue when I get back.

I’ve just realised that I meant to wash my hair earlier on and I forgot, so it’ll have to be a shower tomorrow at Dee’s instead.  I just don’t like showers, even the nicest of them.  Okay in a very hot country but otherwise they’re just so intrusive, rather than relaxing, as a bath is.  And the worst bit is the sudden cold shock of getting out.  It’s not the same with a bath, as your shoulders are out anyway and your whole body is bath heat, so you’re cushioned for the few seconds it takes to get a towel round.  But a shower, you’re instantly into the shock of the cold.  Even if it’s not very cold at all out there.  Anyway.  It’s only half past nine but hair that’s washed at this time of the evening goes all bedhairish, however carefully you dry it.  *I* dry it, that is.

I’m quite sure that the world is divided into shower lovers and bath lovers, but I don’t know what it says about us, specifically, and there’s no doubt that we can live together amicably, whether on the same side or the other.  There’s also the soft versus the hard towel brigade.  I’m sure you know which side I’m on, but I wonder if you can work out LT’s angle on the matter.

I must pack my bag and write emails now, darlings.  Have a lovely week and, unless there’s unexpected 4G all the way, see you at the weekend.

Unfortunately there comes a time when getting out of a bath tub gets difficult. After one unfortunate incident I have been told never to lock the bathroom door when I take a bath. But I am much better at getting out these days.

Schaurig ? “Showerissime”. Reminds me of the old German Kalauer (a very bad joke) “Doof, Dover, Calais” ; also possible in the form “Doof, Doofer, Karle” (“Karle” a diminuitive form of Karl / Charles). I successfully lowered the intellectual niveau of this blog by at least two inches, ha !

Shower and rough towel for me. Can’t see the attraction of sitting in a warm soup of pubic hair. Don’t like hot tubs for the same reason

Oh Tim, you’re certainly along there with the smooth 🙂
Recipes always seem to involve throwing things in a pan or slamming them into the oven nowadays, Rog. I’m just too careful for life nowadays.
You’re right there, Beryl. And at any rate, we now have a very good walk-in (not dive) shower so I’m all prepared for guests who can’t manage a bath any more!
Always good to hear from you, Mago, however many times and however much you lower the tone. You came nowhere as far as Sir B, though, where we hit bottom. Literally.
I’m the only one who uses my bath regularly and I do clean it every time, Sir B, but you paint a vivid and horrid picture.

Ah yes, water. I remember when I was able to use it for bathing and showering. Seems like months ago now, not just 5 days…

According to a letter in today’s Times, ” In 1990, the Cape Times wrote ‘The city will run out of water in 17 years,’ and explained why. Mismanagement and a failure to respond either to this information or to population growth are far more to blame than drought.” I don’t know the truth of this but certainly it has been predicted. Must be very difficult for those who live there or visit.

Amazing! We heard similar said about the loadshedding (electricity cuts on a rolling basis) 2 years ago. Problem came when ANC came to power and put their croinies into positions of power – they had no experience of running things, and no experience of planning. And it goes on.

Could you do a photo of that bit and send it over to me please? We will be out of internet range for a few days, but may be able to pinch a bit of wifi when out and about. Better still… if you could email it to Mr BW (address on his website) he has a SA SIM card in his phone – although there is no phone access where we are going either!!!
