Darlings, a puzzle for you in the Mike fashion – can you tell me what this is?  We found it in one of the garages amongst the Sage’s father’s stuff – Russell himself wouldn’t have had cause to use it.

Made of leather and wood, with a hinged disc of metal at one end, it’s about 18 or 20 inches long.  I’ve got two of them in fact, but that isn’t especially significant.

The other item I have for you today is a video with highlights of Ronan and Rouk’s wedding and that speaks for itself.  I should add that it’s Rouk’s (Dora’s) birthday today.  Happy birthday, darling.

Happy birthday to the lovely, beaming bride !

Was there a thermometer in the lower wooden frame ? It looks as if it was meant to be held over something by the strapped-on wooden handle. Never saw such a thing before.

It looks a fascinating thing – I hope Mike comes along and tells us what it is!

The video is lovely with your hat being a stand out!

Is that a challenge, Rog? Well, I can. It’s a game carrier, for use at a shoot. The shot pheasant’s head is pushed through the hole at the left hand end of the device, and the bird shoved to the right. The disc thingy is snapped shut, and the device carried by the leather and wood strap. The process is repeated whenever a bird hits the deck, and is recovered by a dog. The one shown would probably hold about eight to ten pheasants.

Dear Z, do not chuck these items out, They do have a certain value. Give me a ring if you need further advice or assistance.

Of course Mike’s right – I didn’t know the answer myself, but Good Friend Jamie, who gave up his Saturday to help out, knew. And thank you, Mike – only genuine rubbish is being chucked out. I’d greatly appreciate some help in due course, thank you.

The hat! And my extravagant wave! I was greeting my grandchildren, I will tell you. It was a wonderful, magical day – and don’t Ro and Do look young? And very beautiful. Russell was remembered with love but no sadness on the day, it wasn’t the occasion for grief, though my poem referred t it.
