As I said, it’s a week of anniversaries. Six years ago today, my leg was cut off and put back on again with a new ball and socket hammered in.
What I most remember (though I blogged the experience, including the experience of feeling like a post being banged into the ground) is the middle of the night, gritting my teeth because the analgesics had worn off but not asking for more because the post-operative pain wasn’t worse than arthritis. I was a twit for not having the operation sooner.
Next one coming up, don’t know if it’ll be months or a year or two, but it’ll be fine, darlings. I’ll just keep setting off the alarms at airports.
You’d better tell your surgeon you can’t do July 16! (Though I expect it’s out because doctors play golf on Saturdays!)
No question of it. I’ll lurch around until then, come what may.
Sending advanced best wishes for the procedure!
I have had three operations on my right knee. If there is a next time, it will be to install an artificial joint.
I’m told that you have to learn to use the muscle rather than the joint, but I’m no physiotherapist. Keep going, come what may! xx
I had a new left knee joint put in just over ten years ago; and although I had some sort of hospital infection in the knee immediately afterwards, life’s been a lot easier since . Trust all goes well when they get round to it.
Love, Mike and Ann.
I’m told that knees are trickier than hips, so I count myself lucky. But they’re brilliant operations, when I think of how my grandfather had very limited mobility and a heavy limp.
P.s. we’ve both just written Saturday, 16th July, in our diaries as the blog Party date.
P.p.s. Ann says is there anything she can make for the party?
Great, we\re so pleased you can come – and yes please, I’ll think about the menu nearer the time!
