Being sent spam is a bitter irony

I’ve had 24 spam comments sent for moderation today – quite puzzled about it, but if it happens again, I’m going to have to turn on comment registration again – it’s not very much liked and I’d rather do without it, but hardly anyone comments anyway, so it won’t make a lot of difference!

I’ve had my pre-operation visit to the hospital, which went well, I trust.  That is, it is fine as long as the blood tests don’t show up a problem.  Darling Eloise cat was very happy that we’re back and sat on my lap for quite some time – she’s not a sitty sort of cat usually.

But I’m absurdly tired – must be age, darlings – although it’s only half past nine and I’m going to bed.  Fabulous meal last night, I’ve rarely had anything anywhere near as good.  I’ll tell you about it when I’ve slept.

I mostly check emails on my phone, because then I know whether I need to go to the computer or not. In the course of 24 hours, I was sent 39 spam emails for moderation and that is rather a nuisance to deal with. The odd one isn’t a bother. When I set up comment registration, I thought people would sign up, tick ‘remember me’ and not have to keep signing in, but it doesn’t seem to have worked that way and so I changed it so that only the first comment from an email address would need to be moderated – in that way, only I get the spam and not those who have commented and subscribed. But I get so few comments, usually, that it hardly seems to matter whether I have them turned on at all. I wasn’t planning on turning on registration long-term, just for a day or two while the spammers move on to someone else. I’ll see if it continues first, though. I agree that my resentment is out of proportion to the real nuisance of it, but I’m just as fed up with cold callers on the phone.

Going back a few posts, wanted to thank you for telling us about the silicone mats, we ordered them, they arrived Monday, haven’t used them yet. Actually ordered two packs, second one has solved a Christmas present problem.

Now some help needed with ideas for other gifts and card writing, first card arrived yesterday.

I’m sure you’ll be pleased, I’ve bought them for all my children. If you’ve got anyone interested in cooking or food in general, how about a pack to get started in home-curing bacon? I just bought the potassium nitrate but you can get kits with ingredients and instructions and it’s been such a revelation, I never knew it would be so easy or delicious!
